What are your top tips for daily mental hygiene?

Ill start with the 3 that I think we should all prioritise everyday!

    1. Meditation- scientifically proven and only requires 10 minutes! Really time efficient way to boost performance and positive emotion.

    2. Exercise- short bursts of intense exercise raise levels of BDNF in the brain keeping us mentally sharp and happy as Larry- winner.

    3. Journaling- I love to write first thing in the morning. Practicing gratitude daily by writing down what your thankful for has huge benefits, I also like to build on my self knowledge by journaling about whatever emotions I may be feeling that day (huge parts of our emotional world can remain in our unconscious and in the dark if we don't shine a light on them).

Let me hear what you are doing to keep your brain in top form :)

Meditation, exercise and journaling are great practices! I also enjoy daily reading to stimulate the brain.

Definitely! Love it, learning something new is essential for brain health and increasing neuroplasticity, good one.

Meditate, feeling gratefulness, going outside for a walk, working out or yoga!

A simple walk outside is such a good one, so easy to do and super effective to clear the head, thanks for sharing Andrea!

What would you recommend for meditation, I have never done it before, it's always been something I've heard others doing. For a "first time " what do I do?

Apps like Headspace or Calm can be really helpful! For some people sitting in meditation for an extended period of time can seem daunting, but something as short as a 3 minutes can be a great way to get started and build the habit.

Absolutely agree with Harrison, getting an app is awesome for the guided experience, it can feel like a strange thing to be doing at first but the guides make it a bit more accessible. Try doing a few minutes first thing in the morning with an app and slowly build up to more time, the important thing is to just do it as frequently as possible whether you are doing 1 minute or making it for 10+ its still a win. Another awesome app I suggest is, its free and personalised to your level of experience etc check it out here Rose: https://www.balanceapp.com/
